A Ratio is defined as the relationship in quantity between two things. A Ratio indicates how many times one number contains the other.
Suppose there are 10 red balls and 6 blue balls in a basket, then the ratio of red balls to blue balls is 10:6. The ratio of blue balls to red balls is 6:10. The ratio of red balls to the total number of balls is 10:16 and that of blue balls to the total number of balls is 6:16
